  7. The multiple options support expansion.  Judged one of the most reliable
  8. intelligent boards in the field, the ACL board from Star Gate Technologies,
  9. Inc.  offers many product options.  And many options can be easily added later
  10. for system migration.  Start out with a four-port version and upgrade to eight
  11. ports when your needs dictate expansion.  By using Star Gate's upgrade kit,
  12. you can have an expanded system up and running in less than an hour.  To add
  13. more users, simply insert multiple ACL boards.  For many applications, four
  14. ACL boards -- each powered by an 8 MHz 8088 microprocessor -- can easily
  15. support up to 32 users.  Fully shielded cables and panels are offered in three
  16. options:  RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485.  The ACL inserts into an 8-bit or 16-bit
  17. expansion slot of an IBM PC, XT, AT and 80286, 80386 and 80486 AT-class
  18. compatibles.  So equipped, a microcomputer can serve as a powerful host for
  19. multiple serial devices and terminals.  Besides field-proven reliability, the
  20. intelligent ACL communications board provides:  system expansion with minimum
  21. downtime - upgrade ports/memory configurations in the field; dual-port memory
  22. can be located anywhere in the host's 16 MB address space for greater memory
  23. address flexibility; multiple board setups (up to four) can share same dual
  24. port memory space; and onboard scratch RAM supports custom programs, which can
  25. be developed on a PC using standard development tools.
